On the occasion of the 60th Venice Biennale, the Museum Berggruen – Neue Nationalgalerie presents "Sebastian", a new eight-hour performance installation by Miles Greenberg, co-curated by Klaus Biesenbach and Lisa Botti. Staged at the historic Palazzo Malipiero during the opening weekend, the work enters into dialogue with the iconography of Saint Sebastian at the Gallerie dell'Accademia and with Venice's storied blackamoor motifs. Rather than following a linear narrative, it unfolds as an open ritual. Four robotic arms, each equipped with a camera, are set up around the performer, circling him and filming him for the entire duration of the piece.
